The official opening of the Derbent Branch of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, located in the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation, took place on 28 November 2016. Student admissions to the branch are conducted in accordance with the admission regulations of the Russian Federation. By instruction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a new educational complex for the Derbent Branch was constructed and put into operation.

The total area of the branch is 11,000 square meters. The branch has 32 classrooms, enabling the education of up to 1,000 students per shift.

The Derbent Branch is equipped with all necessary infrastructure. All lecture halls are furnished with projectors and computer equipment, and specialized classrooms have been established for each discipline. The branch provides a library and reading hall, computer and language laboratories, sports and aerobics halls, and a medical unit. A modern cafeteria with 100 seats is in operation, and the assembly hall accommodates events for up to 284 participants.
The campus is equipped with a central heating system, an autonomous substation, an 80-cubic-meter water reservoir, and a 100 Mbps internet connection. 24-hour video surveillance is installed throughout the branch. The modern campus, designed for 1,500 students, includes a student dormitory for 200 residents, a library, a cafeteria, a sports hall with a swimming pool, and a lyceum for 200 students.
